Discover the Power of TAMS: A Modern, Open Approach for Fast, Live Workflows that Scale.

Time Addressable Media Store (TAMS) offers a modern way in how video is stored and moved by breaking long-form video into small, time-based segments so content can be accessed and shared faster, with metadata attached and without repeatedly copying and storing whole files.

TAMS is as an open-source API specification designed for cloud-native, time-based media workflows, storing media as discrete, time-addressable chunks in object storage and indexing access by timecode (rather than file/folder structures). It supports “edit-by-reference” workflows, so teams and partners can create edits by referencing the original time-coded segments rather than duplicating media. This enables signifcantly faster collaboration and cost optimisation.

Why TAMS Matters

Real Time Access for Live Workflows:

Capture live media in small segments registered against a shared timeline, so producers can share with partners without transferring whole recordings, and partners can write edits back by referencing the original segments.

Faster Production and Publishing:

Because segments are time-addressable, teams can instantly find the exact moment they need and move from live-to-clip-to-publish faster, without waiting for heavyweight file handling.

Effortless scale and smarter storage footprint:

TAMS’ segment-based model supports workflows like low-value (or 'dead ice') content analysis, where identified segments can be pushed to lower-cost storage. This reduces operational drag, improves control over storage decisions and offers cost optimisation.
